Technical description

In Spring Framework versions 5.3.0 - 5.3.18, 5.2.0 - 5.2.20, and older unsupported versions, the patterns for disallowedFields on a DataBinder are case sensitive which means a field is not effectively protected unless it is listed with both upper and lower case for the first character of the field, including upper and lower case for the first character of all nested fields within the property path.

——3Kubewarden policies is a collection of WebAssembly policies for securing and governing Kubernetes clusters. For versions provisionally classified as affected before 2.1.2, `trusted-repos-policy` compares an image's `registry` hostname against `reject lists` and `allow lists` case-sensitively even though `registry` DNS names are case-insensitive. An image with an uppercase or mixed-case `registry` hostname can miss a rejection rule for the equivalent lowercase host, so the admission policy accepts a resource whose container runtime pulls the same prohibited image. Only reject-list configurations have this bypass: allow-list configurations fail closed by over-denying differently cased hostnames. The security consequences depend on the configured rejection policy and deployment environment. This issue is fixed in version 2.1.2.1d

——15An access control bypass flaw was identified in Samba's vfs_ceph_rgw module in it's openat() function. An authenticated user can bypass access controls to read or overwrite restricted files on shares configured with the experimental vfs_ceph_rgw module. When a client requests an existing file using mismatched character casing, the module fails to perform a case-insensitive lookup correctly, causing the server to treat the operation as creating a new file. As a result, the server skips standard permission checks on the existing file, allowing the attacker to access or overwrite sensitive data owned by other users.5d

——8HTTP::Body versions before 1.23_01 for Perl drop mixed-case percent escapes from urlencoded form fields instead of decoding them. The decode table holds only the all-lowercase and all-uppercase spelling of each hex pair, while the escape pattern matches either case. An escape such as %aB finds no entry and is replaced with nothing, joining the bytes on either side. Hex digits in percent escapes are case-insensitive, and conforming decoders return the byte. A remote attacker can send a field name or value that a conforming decoder in front of the application reads differently, so that pass%aBword reaches the application as password.6d

——12HashiCorp Consul and Consul Enterprise are vulnerable to an authorization bypass in service mesh proxy registration. This may allow a user with service write permission to apply Envoy escape-hatch configuration without the required mesh write permission. This vulnerability (CVE-2026-105608) is fixed in Consul Community Edition 2.1.0 and Consul Enterprise 2.1.0 and 1.21.19.8d

——9MISP Guard, a proxy-based security filter for MISP feed distribution, contains a case-sensitivity flaw in multiple policy enforcement checks. The functions check_required_taxonomy_exists, check_required_taxonomy_tags_allowed, check_blocked_attribute_categories, and check_blocked_analyst_data_sharing_groups_uuids performed case-sensitive string comparisons when matching event tags, attribute categories, and sharing-group UUIDs against configured allow/block lists. An attacker with the ability to create or modify events in a MISP instance (or a connected instance that pushes events through the guard) could craft events using different letter case in taxonomy tag names, attribute categories, or sharing-group UUIDs to bypass the configured security policies. For example, if the policy requires the 'tlp' taxonomy with only 'tlp:clear' allowed, an event tagged 'TLP:AMBER' would not be recognized as belonging to the 'tlp' taxonomy and would therefore not be checked against the allowed-tags list, resulting in the event being forwarded to feed consumers. Similarly, a blocked attribute category such as 'Person' would not match a configured block entry of 'person', allowing the attribute to pass through the filter. The security impact is unauthorized disclosure of threat-intelligence data that the operator intended to restrict. Events carrying non-allowed TLP (Traffic Light Protocol) markings, blocked attribute categories, or blocked sharing-group associations are forwarded to downstream feed consumers in violation of the configured distribution policy. This undermines the confidentiality controls that MISP Guard is designed to enforce. The vulnerability is trivially exploitable: the attacker only needs to alter the letter case of a tag, category, or UUID string. No authentication beyond normal MISP event-creation privileges is required, and no user interaction is needed.7d
