Technical description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: hci_sync: fix double free in 'hci_discovery_filter_clear()' Function 'hci_discovery_filter_clear()' frees 'uuids' array and then sets it to NULL. There is a tiny chance of the following race: 'hci_cmd_sync_work()' 'update_passive_scan_sync()' 'hci_update_passive_scan_sync()' 'hci_discovery_filter_clear()' kfree(uuids); <-------------------------preempted--------------------------------> 'start_service_discovery()' 'hci_discovery_filter_clear()' kfree(uuids); // DOUBLE FREE <-------------------------preempted--------------------------------> uuids = NULL; To fix it let's add locking around 'kfree()' call and NULL pointer assignment. Otherwise the following backtrace fires: [ ] ------------[ cut here ]------------ [ ] kernel BUG at mm/slub.c:547! 12Redis before 8.8.0, in the unusual case where an authenticated attacker can execute RESTORE, allows remote code execution via a RESTORE payload where the same NACK (pending entry) is referenced by more than one consumer, because deleting both consumers via XGROUP DELCONSUMER leads to a double free. 6libssh2 through 1.11.1, fixed in commit 5e47761, contains a double-free vulnerability in the sftp_open() function in src/sftp.c that allows a malicious SSH server to corrupt the heap of any authenticated client opening an SFTP session. When a server responds to SSH_FXP_OPEN with SSH_FXP_STATUS containing FX_OK, the response data buffer is freed, and if a subsequent sftp_packet_require() call returns a specific error such as LIBSSH2_ERROR_CHANNEL_PACKET_EXCEEDED, the same pointer is freed a second time, enabling tcache dup conditions on glibc systems that allow overlapping allocations and function pointer overwrites.3d

5When initializing an RSA public key from DER or PEM bytes throws an error, the EVP_PKEY* is double-freed: first in the catch block, then in the deinit. This can lead to a crash on future memory allocations. This double-free manifests when BoringSSL cannot decode the public key from the bytes provided. This vulnerability is addressed in swift-crypto version 4.5.1.10d

8FFmpeg versions 4.4 through 8.1.2 contain a double-free vulnerability in the NVIDIA NVDEC hardware decoder within libavcodec/nvdec.c that allows attackers to trigger memory corruption by supplying a crafted video file. When no decoder surfaces remain, the ff_nvdec_start_frame_sep_ref error path frees memory via nvdec_fdd_priv_free while the calling layer subsequently frees the same frame description data, resulting in a double-free of the underlying decoder context in any FFmpeg-based application using NVDEC hardware-accelerated decoding.5d
