Technical description

body-parser is body parsing middleware for Node.js and Express. In versions before 1.20.9 and in versions from 2.0.0 before 2.4.0, a single request can crash any application using body-parser with default options. When a request carries a Content-Encoding such as gzip, body-parser pipes it into a decompression stream and, after reading the body, leaves that stream with no error listener. A payload of one valid compressed frame followed by trailing bytes decodes and the application responds normally, but the trailing bytes then reach the already-finished decoder, which emits an error that is re-thrown as an uncaught exception and terminates the process. No matching route is required because body parsing runs before routing, so any endpoint that parses a body is affected. The issue is fixed in body-parser 2.4.0 and 1.20.9, and users should upgrade to one of those versions or later. As a workaround, disable request-body inflation (set the body-parser inflate option to false) so encoded requests are rejected before any decompression stream is created.

———multer is a middleware for Node.js that handles multipart/form-data file uploads. In versions from 2.0.0 before 2.5.0, when multer is configured with an asynchronous fileFilter, a single request can crash the Node.js process. If the request is aborted while one file's asynchronous fileFilter is still pending, the pending callback later resumes a parsing stream that multer has already torn down, and the underlying parser emits an error on a stream that no longer has an error listener, which Node raises as an unhandled error event so the process exits. Any application using multer with an asynchronous fileFilter is affected regardless of storage engine, while uploads using a synchronous fileFilter are not affected. The issue is fixed in multer 2.5.0, and users should upgrade to 2.5.0 or later. As a workaround, use a synchronous fileFilter.3h

———As part of Cisco's ongoing commitment to proactive security and product quality, the Cisco Expressway Series software engineering team has conducted a comprehensive internal security review. This review resulted in software hardening releases that address multiple internally discovered vulnerabilities.   The vulnerabilities tracked by CVE-2026-76493 are related to issues concerning uncaught exceptions that are grouped under the Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE) Base CWE-248.4h

——6adm-zip before 0.6.1 contains a denial of service vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to crash the Node.js process via a malformed ZIP file, because inflateAsync in methods/inflater.js lacks a zlib stream error listener. Attackers can supply a ZIP with corrupted DEFLATE data processed by readFileAsync, readAsTextAsync, extractAllToAsync, or getDataAsync, triggering an uncatchable exception that terminates all in-flight requests.2d

——9vLLM before 0.31.0 skips the min_tokens <= max_tokens check for /inference/v1/generate requests with a null max_tokens, so the EngineCore input thread later dies on an uncaught VLLMValidationError while /health still returns 200. Unauthenticated remote attackers can send one request with an oversized min_tokens to hang all subsequent generation requests until manual restart.2h

——8Requesting `/{username}/-/repositories` for an individual user instead of an organization made the organization home handler dereference a nil organization and panic. The request needs no authentication and no special configuration. The server answered with an HTTP 500 error and logged a panic for each request; the fix returns 404 for individual users.3d

——13countly-server is the server-side part of Countly, a product analytics solution. Prior to 24.05.50 and 25.03.44, star-rating/images/ and dashboards/images/screenshots/ are among public image and screenshot routes using the local fs storage backend that call getStream and pipe filesystem streams to HTTP responses without an error listener. An unauthenticated request containing a URL-encoded dot can make createReadStream open a directory, emit an asynchronous EISDIR error, and terminate the Node.js process as an unhandled exception, allowing repeated requests to keep the analytics API unavailable. The affected routes also include /appimages/*, /memberimages/*, and */screenshots/*. This issue is fixed in versions 24.05.50 and 25.03.44.6d
