Technical description

Pillow is a Python imaging library. From 9.1.0 until 13.0.0, Pillow can disclose uninitialized stack memory when Image.quantize() uses an empty palette. ImagingPaletteCacheUpdate() leaves a local cache array uninitialized when the palette has zero entries, and the conversion path emits those bytes as output pixel indices. An attacker who controls the palette image can obtain stack contents from a returned PNG or GIF. This can disclose addresses and stack-canary data without an out-of-bounds access, memory corruption, or process crash. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0.

——0Pillow is a Python imaging library. From 10.0.0 until 13.0.0, Pillow can free an invalid glyph pointer during FreeType rendering with an active stroker. If FT_Load_Glyph fails, cleanup may call FT_Done_Glyph on an uninitialized or stale glyph variable. An attacker can supply a malformed font as untrusted bytes to an application that draws text with a nonzero stroke width, forcing the glyph-load failure path. This can corrupt memory or crash the process. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0.13h

——9libIEC61850 is an open-source implementation of IEC 61850 client and server protocols including MMS, GOOSE, Sampled Values, and R-Session. Prior to 1.6.2, checkDataSetAccess reverses the source and destination arguments to StringUtils_copyStringToBuffer while constructing an MMS_ASSOCIATION_SPECIFIC dataset reference. The helper treats uninitialized dataSetRef[130] storage as a source string, causing strlen to read beyond the stack buffer, and then copies those bytes into the caller-owned listName buffer. A remote defineNamedVariableList request can crash servers that have dynamic dataset service enabled and a dataset access handler installed; the advisory also observes caller stack corruption but establishes denial of service as the primary impact. This issue is fixed in version 1.6.2.4d

——2Use of uninitialized variable in ThirdParty lmza_sdk in Google Chrome prior to 155.0.8059.79 allowed a remote attacker to potentially read memory inside the sandbox via a crafted file. (Chromium security severity: High)6d

——9A vulnerability was found in libsndfile up to 1.2.2. This issue affects the function wavlike_subchunk_parse of the file src/wavlike.c of the component WAV Parsing. Performing a manipulation results in use of uninitialized variable. Remote exploitation of the attack is possible. The exploit has been made public and could be used. The project was informed of the problem early through an issue report but has not responded yet.7d

——1A flaw was found in m17n-lib. An attacker who supplies crafted input to an application processing ISO-2022 encoded text can cause the library to read uninitialized memory from the stack. If the application exposes or returns the decoded output, this flaw can result in unexpected behavior and limited information disclosure.4d

——4In multiple locations, there is a possible out-of-bounds write due to uninitialized data. This could lead to remote escalation of privilege with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation.13d
