Technical description

Not failing securely in the anti-virus attachment-stripping action of Progressive Robot hMailServer 6.0.0 through 6.3.6 allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to have a message that the server's virus scanner found infected delivered to the recipient's mailbox unchanged. With virus scanning enabled and its action set to remove attachments and deliver the text (the default action deletes the message), the server keeps one text part of an infected message and replaces every attachment with a note. A message whose single part is not text - a program or an archive sent as the whole message, a message carried whole, a file declared an attachment, or an S/MIME message signed as one part, whose content the recipient's mail client opens - had no part the action could pick out, and was delivered as it arrived, with the content the scanner had found and nothing but a line in the application log to show it. Any sender can write such a message.

CVE-2026-105933—

———Apache Pulsar allows an administrator to require end-to-end message encryption for all topics in a namespace by setting the encryption_required namespace policy. When this policy is set, the broker rejects messages that are published without encryption. When the broker loads a persistent topic, it reads the namespace policies and the topic-level policies as part of topic initialization. If a step of this initialization fails, for example because of an error reading from the metadata store, a failure loading the topic-level policies or a failure in a later initialization step, the broker logs a warning, disables the encryption requirement for that topic, and completes the topic load as if it had succeeded. The topic is then served with encryption_required not enforced, even though the namespace policy requires it. Topic-level policies that could not be loaded are also not applied. While the encryption requirement is not enforced, an authenticated client with permission to produce to the affected topic can publish messages that are not encrypted, and the broker accepts and stores them. This applies both to producers created after the topic was loaded and to producers that were already connected. Messages published with encryption remain encrypted; the issue does not expose the content of encrypted messages or the encryption keys. The condition is not limited to transient failures. If the cause of the initialization failure persists, the encryption requirement is disabled again each time the topic is loaded, for example after a topic unload, a namespace bundle reassignment or a broker restart. An update to the namespace policies restores enforcement on a loaded topic, but only until the topic is loaded again. Enforcement is reliably restored only once the underlying cause of the failure has been resolved and the topic has been loaded again. The broker logs a warning when the encryption requirement is disabled, but the topic load is reported as successful and the state of the encryption requirement is not shown in the topic statistics. In fixed versions, a failure during topic initialization causes the topic load to fail so that it can be retried, instead of loading the topic with the encryption requirement disabled. This issue affects Apache Pulsar versions from 1.22.0-incubating before 4.0.14 and from 4.1.0 before 4.2.5. - 4.0.x version users should upgrade to at least 4.0.14. - 4.1.x and 4.2.x version users should upgrade to at least 4.2.5. Users operating versions prior to those listed above should upgrade to the aforementioned patched versions or newer versions. The currently supported Apache Pulsar release lines are 4.0.x and 5.0.x. The supported versions schedule is available at https://pulsar.apache.org/contribute/release-policy/. Users who rely on encryption_required and cannot upgrade immediately can monitor the broker logs for warnings containing "isEncryptionRequired will be set to false" (the exact wording of the message differs between releases), resolve the underlying cause of the failure, and then reload the affected topic and confirm that the warning does not recur.1d

——4Not Failing Securely ('Failing Open') vulnerability in Apache Tomcat. If the OpenSSLLifecycleListener is configured to use FIPS mode but FIPS activation fails, Tomcat logs and error but continues to use JSSE in non-FIPS mode with the provided configuration. This issue affects Apache Tomcat: from 11.0.0-M14 through 11.0.26, from 10.1.22 through 10.1.60, from 9.0.92 through 9.0.122. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 11.0.27, 10.1.61 or 9.0.123, which fix the issue.2d

——4Improper Certificate Validation vulnerability in hexpm hex_core allows an attacker who can intercept HTTPS connections to impersonate hex.pm, repo.hex.pm or any other repository or API server to programs that use hex_core's default HTTP adapter on Erlang/OTP 24, or on OTP 25 when the operating system's CA certificates can't be loaded. hex_core:default_config/0 selects the built-in hex_http_httpc adapter. For an HTTPS request whose adapter config has no ssl option, hex_http_httpc:http_options/2 builds options that verify the server certificate against public_key:cacerts_get/0. When that call raises, the adapter prints a warning and sends the request without ssl options, so httpc uses the defaults of the ssl application, which before OTP 26 don't verify the server certificate. public_key:cacerts_get/0 doesn't exist on OTP 24, so every HTTPS request falls back there, and on OTP 25 it raises when no CA store is found. hex_core versions before 0.11.0 never set ssl options, so they don't verify the server certificate on OTP 25 and earlier whether or not a CA store is found. The fallback was intended and documented, but the documentation didn't make clear that it meant no certificate verification. Since hex_core 0.8.2 the README has warned that the built-in httpc adapter "has insecure default settings" and recommended other HTTP clients, and the adapter prints "using default ssl options which are insecure" on every request that falls back. hex_core 0.11.0 added certificate verification with the changelog entry "Use secure SSL defaults for OTP 25+". Neither the README nor the warning says that the server certificate isn't verified, the README doesn't say which OTP versions the warning applies to, and on OTP 25 without CA certificates the warning tells users to upgrade to OTP 25 or later, which they already run. This advisory is published so that users who took those notices as general advice know their HTTPS requests weren't authenticated. This issue affects hex_core: from 0.1.0 before 0.20.0.6d

——3Dell Secure Connect Gateway (SCG) Policy Manager, versions prior to 5.34.00.16, contains a Not Failing Securely ('Failing Open') vulnerability. A low privileged attacker with remote access could potentially exploit this vulnerability, leading to Protection mechanism bypass.9d

——0SumatraPDF is a multi-format reader for Windows. In 3.6.1 and earlier, InitializePolicies() starts the sumatrapdfrestrict.ini path with gPolicyRestrictions set to Perm::All and only ORs permission bits, so the INI file never revokes permissions. Deploying SumatraPDF with this INI file, including a malformed file or zero-valued permission settings, can silently bypass configured disk, network, printing, registry, clipboard, preference, and fullscreen restrictions. The -restrict command-line path works correctly and is not affected. No fixed version is available as of this review.13d

——2Docker Sandboxes could fail open while masking credentials in protected proxy responses. When a response-body read returned data together with an error, affected handlers could forward unmasked bytes. Code inside an authorized sandbox could use this to recover host-managed OAuth access and refresh tokens or a derived Anthropic API key intended to remain outside the sandbox.14d
