Technical description

Forge (also called node-forge) is a native implementation of Transport Layer Security in JavaScript. Prior to 1.4.1, the affected implementation used pem.decode(), lib/pem.js, missing END line to process the relevant input or security decision. node-forge used polynomial-time regular expressions in pem.decode(), including when searching for a matching END line and parsing encapsulated headers. An unauthenticated attacker able to supply PEM input to any high-level parser could consume excessive CPU with a long malformed message and cause denial of service. This issue is fixed in version 1.4.1.

———Wekan is open source kanban built with Meteor. Prior to 11.11, the user-search publication in server/publications/users.js and the searchUsers method in server/models/users.js pass authenticated user-controlled searchTerm and query values to new RegExp() without escaping regular-expression metacharacters. MongoDB-backed deployments evaluate the resulting patterns with PCRE2, allowing a logged-in user to submit catastrophic-backtracking expressions that consume database CPU and degrade or deny service to other users; searchUsers additionally requires board membership or site-admin status. The FerretDB v1 / RE2 unaffected configuration is not practically affected by catastrophic backtracking. This issue is fixed in version 11.11.4h

———CallBackery versions before 0.62.0 for Perl allow denial of service via the request path interpolated as a regular expression under CGI, FastCGI and PSGI. The before_dispatch hook installed by startup() removes PATH_INFO from the end of the request URI with a substitution that interpolates PATH_INFO unquoted. Under CGI, FastCGI and PSGI both values come from the request, so the client chooses both the pattern and the string it is matched against. A short unauthenticated request with a backreference in the path backtracks exponentially and can keep a worker process busy for minutes.4h

———Starlet versions from 0.20 before 0.33 for Perl allow CPU exhaustion via regular expression backtracking when decoding chunked request bodies. A chunk-size line is matched as a run of hex digits, then .* and a CRLF. A run followed by a bare LF and then a CRLF can never match, and the engine retries the match once for each digit, so the time taken grows with the square of the run length. Nothing limits the length of the run, which can span several reads. A remote attacker can occupy a worker for about a minute of CPU time with one 128 KiB request, before the application is called.4h

——0Improper Validation of Specified Quantity in Input vulnerability in the Elixir standard library's URI module allows an attacker who supplies a URL to cause a denial of service through CPU exhaustion. URI.parse/1 converts the port component with String.to_integer/1 in split_authority/1 (lib/elixir/lib/uri.ex) without bounding its length, so a port of up to 1,262,592 decimal digits produces a bignum of that size and a longer one raises SystemLimitError. Rendering the parsed URI back to text (URI.to_string/1, inspect/1, logging, error formatting) converts the bignum with :erlang.integer_to_binary/1, which is quadratic on Erlang/OTP 27, 28 and 29.0: a 400,000-digit port renders in about 2.6 seconds and a 1 MB port in about 18 seconds. Ports above 65535 are also accepted. This issue affects elixir: from 0.5.0 before 1.18.6, from 1.19.0-rc.0 before 1.19.7, and from 1.20.0-rc.0 before 1.20.5.4h

——0A flaw was found in glib-networking. When establishing connections using Transport Layer Security (TLS) version 1.3, the client-side session cache does not limit the number of session tickets retained for a single host. A malicious server can exploit this by sending excessive session ticket messages, causing the client application to continuously consume memory. This unbounded memory growth can exhaust system memory, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).16h

——0GraphQL-core is a Python port of the GraphQL.js reference implementation. From 3.3.0a3 until 3.3.1, validate() reuses a module-level ValidationAbortedError when a document exceeds max_errors. Python appends frames to the reused exception's traceback on every raise, retaining each document, validation context, and error set for the process lifetime. An unauthenticated client can repeatedly submit a small document with more than 100 validation errors to cause unbounded memory growth before query execution, eventually exhausting worker memory without disclosing or modifying data. This issue is fixed in version 3.3.1.5h
