Technical description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/xe: Add bounds check on pat_index to prevent OOB kernel read in madvise When user provides a bogus pat_index value through the madvise IOCTL, the xe_pat_index_get_coh_mode() function performs an array access without validating bounds. This allows a malicious user to trigger an out-of-bounds kernel read from the xe->pat.table array. The vulnerability exists because the validation in madvise_args_are_sane() directly calls xe_pat_index_get_coh_mode(xe, args->pat_index.val) without first checking if pat_index is within [0, xe->pat.n_entries). Although xe_pat_index_get_coh_mode() has a WARN_ON to catch this in debug builds, it still performs the unsafe array access in production kernels. v2(Matthew Auld) - Using array_index_nospec() to mitigate spectre attacks when the value is used v3(Matthew Auld) - Put the declarations at the start of the block (cherry picked from commit 944a3329b05510d55c69c2ef455136e2fc02de29)

—
———A flaw was found in libslirp in icmp_forward_error(). When building an ICMP error response, the length of the quoted original IPv4 packet was taken from the IP header without clamping it to the actual buffer length. A truncated or malformed packet could cause an out-of-bounds heap read, leaking host memory into the ICMP error packet returned to a guest or container.10h

———A flaw was found in hivex. By supplying a specially crafted Windows registry hive file, an attacker can trigger an out-of-bounds memory read when hivex parses registry values containing malformed large data block lists. This issue can cause the application processing the registry file to crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).13h

———psqlODBC trusts counts and lengths in server data in three places. SQLBulkOperations uses a server-supplied row count in a size subtraction that can underflow. SQLStatistics iterates index keys using a server-supplied key count without bounding it to the fixed storage. Bytea octal decoding reads up to two bytes past the end of a truncated escape sequence. A server not trusted under current SSL settings can crash the client or make it read out of bounds. Versions before psqlODBC 18.00.0006 are affected.15h

———The Sleuth Kit through 4.15.0 contains a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in hfs_load_extended_attrs() in tsk/fs/hfs.c that reads the decmpfs header without checking attribute length. Attackers can supply a crafted HFS+ image with a com.apple.decmpfs attr_size of 1 to 15 to read past the allocation and crash analysis tools like istat or icat.15h

———Netpbm before 10.86.51, 11.x before 11.02.30, and 11.03 before 11.15.08 contains an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the tgatoppm converter's get_pixel() function that uses unchecked pixel values as color map indexes. Attackers can supply a crafted color-mapped Targa file whose pixel values exceed the declared color map bounds to crash the converter or leak adjacent memory into the output image.16h

———Out-of-bounds read vulnerability in Apache Arrow Rust (`arrow` crate), from version 33.0.0 through to versions 57.3.1, 58.4.0, 59.3.1 and 60.0.0. Improper validation of RunEndEncoded arrays in the ArrayData interface can allow reading data beyond the bounds of the child values array. Users are recommended to upgrade to versions 60.1.0, 59.3.2, 58.4.1, 57.3.2 which fixes the issue.15h
