Technical description

Improper handling of case sensitivity in FileSystem in Google Chrome prior to 152.0.7977.65 allowed a remote attacker leveraging social engineering to bypass system access restrictions via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Medium)

CVE-2026-82726
Permissive Regular Expression vulnerability in ash-project ash_phoenix lets a remote client select the tenant an Ash application uses, or degrade the request, by sending a crafted Host header. AshPhoenix.Helpers.get_subdomain/2 stripped the root domain with String.replace(host, ~r/.?#{root_host}/, ""). The root host was interpolated raw, so each . became a wildcard and any metacharacter a pattern, and the replace was global and unanchored, so a match was removed from anywhere in the string. With root_host example.com, Host: foo.exampleXcom.attacker.net returned the tenant foo.attacker.net. A metacharacter-bearing or nil root host degraded the pattern or raised on every request. The comparison was also case-sensitive, so TENANT.EXAMPLE.COM and EXAMPLE.COM slipped past the root-host allowlist. conn.host comes from the client Host header. The fix matches the root host case-insensitively and only as an exact trailing suffix. This issue affects ash_phoenix: from 2.1.26 before 2.3.25.2h

7Improper handling of case sensitivity (CWE-178) in the identity zone authorization check in the Identity Zone Endpoint in Cloud Foundry UAA allows a remote authenticated attacker holding only the zones.write authority to bypass the intended restriction that this authority does not grant access to the privileged uaa (system) identity zone, by referring to the zone identifier in a non-lowercase form (e.g. UAA) in the request path and body. The authorization layer performs a case-sensitive comparison against the system zone identifier, while the underlying MySQL persistence layer resolves identifiers case-insensitively under its default collation, so the request is authorized incorrectly and is then resolved against the real system zone record. This allows the attacker to overwrite the system zone's JWT signing key with attacker-controlled key material, forge JWTs claiming the admin client and administrator scopes, and fully compromise UAA and any Cloud Foundry deployment that trusts it. This issue only affects UAA deployments backed by MySQL using its default collation; PostgreSQL and HSQLDB backends are not affected.2d

10Grav is a file-based Web platform. Prior to 2.0.4, the Grav .htaccess and webserver-configs/htaccess.txt security rules omit the Apache [NC] flag and therefore compare sensitive directory and file-extension patterns case-sensitively. On a case-insensitive filesystem, an unauthenticated requester can use uppercase directory or extension variants to bypass the rules and retrieve files under user/accounts or user/config, including password hashes and security configuration. This issue is fixed in version 2.0.4.9d

7FileBrowser before 2.63.19 does not account for case-insensitive filesystems when checking home directory ownership during self-registration. When Signup and CreateUserDir are enabled and FileBrowser's root is on a case-insensitive filesystem (confirmed on Windows/NTFS), two self-registered usernames that differ only in letter case (e.g., CaseVictim and casevictim) are stored as distinct accounts but resolve to the same physical home directory, because the scope-ownership check compares the persisted scope as an exact case-sensitive string. A second registrant can therefore read, overwrite, and delete another account's files through authenticated HTTP endpoints, without needing an existing account or victim interaction.13d

12jupyterlab is an extensible environment for interactive and reproducible computing, based on the Jupyter Notebook Architecture. From 4.5.0 until 4.5.10 and 4.6.2, in jupyterlab/extensions/manager.py and jupyterlab/extensions/pypi.py, JupyterLab's PyPI extension manager enforces blocked_extensions_uris by comparing requested install names to blocklist entries with custom normalization that is weaker than PyPI package-name canonicalization. An authenticated user can request a PyPI-equivalent spelling such as JupyterLab.Git for a blocklisted package such as jupyterlab-git, and JupyterLab accepts the install request even though pip resolves the variant to the same package. Security impact requires an allowlist or blocklist intended to restrict package installation, the PyPI Extension Manager, and kernels and terminals that are disabled or delegated to remote hosts. The bypass lets an authenticated user install a prohibited extension, defeat integrity restrictions, and affect availability without gaining new read access. This issue is fixed in versions 4.5.10 and 4.6.2.13d

11Discourse is an open-source discussion platform. Prior to 2026.1.6, 2026.5.2, 2026.6.1, and 2026.7.0, Onebox::DomainChecker.is_blocked? compares hostnames and SiteSetting.blocked_onebox_domains entries case-sensitively, allowing an attacker to bypass configured Onebox domain restrictions by changing character casing in a redirect target hostname. This issue is fixed in versions 2026.1.6, 2026.5.2, 2026.6.1, and 2026.7.0.21d
