Descripción técnica

Heap-based buffer overflow in the legacy Blowfish encryption routine (BlowFishEncryptor::Encode, called by EncryptToString) in Progressive Robot hMailServer 6.0.0 through 6.3.5 allows an authenticated mailbox user to cause a denial of service (service crash), and possibly other unspecified impact. In 6.3.4 and 6.3.5, where the self-service REST API is enabled (it is off by default), the user does this remotely by adding a fetch account whose password is 129 to 247 characters long and not a multiple of 8, and then requesting their personal data export (GET /api/v1/me/export.zip), which encrypts that password with the legacy scheme. The same flaw is reachable on Windows by any local interactive user with no hMailServer credentials, through the COM method Utilities.BlowfishEncrypt, which checked no authentication. It is also reachable by every stored-secret write when ProtectStoredSecretsWithDPAPI is set to 0. For such a length, the routine's padding loop writes up to 7 zero bytes 2 to 232 bytes past the end of its 255-byte heap buffer. The ciphertext it returns is still correct.

—
———NXP MCUXpresso SDK USB middleware (mcuxsdk-middleware-usb) before 2.13.0 contains a heap buffer overflow in host audio, video and CDC class drivers that trust device-supplied bNumEndpoints and bLength values. A malicious USB device can supply crafted descriptors that write endpoint entries past the fixed-size epList array, corrupting heap memory for code execution or denial of service.7h

———A vulnerability was detected in libimobiledevice up to 1.4.0. The affected element is the function webinspector_receive_with_timeout of the file src/webinspector.c of the component Web Inspector. The manipulation results in heap-based buffer overflow. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploit is now public and may be used. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way.4h

——0A vulnerability was identified in libimobiledevice up to 1.4.0. This affects an unknown part of the file src/afc.c of the component AFC. Such manipulation leads to heap-based buffer overflow. The attack can be executed remotely. The exploit is publicly available and might be used. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way.8h

——0A security vulnerability has been detected in GNOME libgsf up to 1.14.60. The impacted element is the function ole_info_read_metabat of the file gsf/gsf-infile-msole.c of the component OLE2 Parser. The manipulation leads to heap-based buffer overflow. The attack can be initiated remotely. The identifier of the patch is a8e25560b74f84c3f86df6ca0ac59195fa5af68a. It is recommended to apply a patch to fix this issue.8h

——0ImageMagick before 6.9.13-58 and 7.x before 7.1.2-33 contains a heap-based buffer overflow in the X11 animate operation when processing crafted images. Attackers can supply a malicious image that, when a user runs an X11 animate operation on it, overwrites heap memory and can crash the application.8h

——15NoMachine mDNS Heap-based Buffer Overflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows network-adjacent attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of NoMachine. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the parsing of mDNS resource records. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a heap-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the service account. Was ZDI-CAN-30982.3d
