Descripción técnica

An attacker who controls the registry, a mirror, or the network path to it may be able to serve arbitrary image content in response to a pull by digest, so that a user runs an image other than the one they pinned. The fix compares the returned digest to the pinned digest and fails the pull on a mismatch. Tag pulls are exempt, because a tag is mutable by design. The fix also verifies the hash of manifests and blobs when they are fetched. This vulnerability is addressed in container version 1.6.0 and containerization version 0.52.1.

———Node Version Manager (nvm) is a POSIX-compliant shell function for managing multiple node.js versions. In versions 0.40.5 through 0.40.8, `nvm_download_artifact` downloads a release archive directly to its final path in `$NVM_DIR/.cache` and verifies its checksum afterwards; on a checksum mismatch it reports an error but leaves the rejected archive in place. A later `nvm install --offline` of the same version installs that cached file without a checksum, so an archive that was just rejected gets installed and its `node` and `npm` run. This gives code execution to a party who can alter the downloaded tarball (for example a poisoned CDN or cache object) but cannot also forge the `SHASUMS256.txt` beside it, if the victim runs `nvm install --offline` for that version after the visible "Checksums do not match" failure and before any online retry. Version 0.41.0 only puts an archive in the cache once its checksum has passed.7h

——0The PFI plugin framework deploys executable assemblies (DLLs) from a signed plugin package into the local plugin repository and loads them via reflection, but the deployment routine processes archive entries that were never covered by the signature verification. An unauthenticated local attacker can replace an unsigned DLL outside the signed prefix in the archive passes verification and overwrites the legitimate signed assembly at the same destination path. The plugin loader then instantiates the attacker-supplied code without any additional integrity check resulting in a full compromise of the affected systems.9h

——5A flaw was found in openshift-ansible. The installer container's `run` script downloads and executes remote inventory and dynamic scripts without integrity verification. A remote attacker, by performing a Man-in-the-Middle (MITM) attack or compromising the HTTP server providing these scripts, could substitute an arbitrary executable. This malicious executable would then run with the installer's user ID (UID) and full cluster-provisioning privileges, leading to arbitrary code execution.6d

——7virtualenv is a tool for creating isolated virtual python environments. Prior to 21.14.9, PipInvoke.get_pip_install_cmd() handles --seeder pip --download by calling get_wheel(download=False) and then allowing pip to consult the configured index, bypassing virtualenv's download_wheel() and verify_wheel_digest() path. When virtualenv's default-index PyPI digest comparison remains enabled, an index candidate matching the bundled package and version can therefore be selected without comparison to PyPI SHA-256 metadata. Explicit custom-index settings already opt out of that comparison and remain outside this verification-bypass claim; the demonstrated configuration used a non-PyPI index while leaving the index environment variables unset so the comparison policy remained active. This condition does not independently defeat TLS or establish control of the index response. This issue is fixed in version 21.14.9.15d

——4EnergizeLab AI Station firmware, EilikO Linux robot firmware v2.1_20260617182218_release, and the EnergizeLab Windows desktop app 3.1.2 download firmware updates over plain HTTP and do not verify their integrity or authenticity. An attacker able to intercept or modify the traffic can substitute a malicious update.19d
