Descripción técnica

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: fix deadlock between reflink and transaction commit when using flushoncommit When using the flushoncommit mount option, we can have a deadlock between a transaction commit and a reflink operation that copied an inline extent to an offset beyond the current i_size of the destination node. The deadlock happens like this: 1) Task A clones an inline extent from inode X to an offset of inode Y that is beyond Y's current i_size. This means we copied the inline extent's data to a folio of inode Y that is beyond its EOF, using a call to copy_inline_to_page(); 2) Task B starts a transaction commit and calls btrfs_start_delalloc_flush() to flush delalloc; 3) The delalloc flushing sees the new dirty folio of inode Y and when it attempts to flush it, it ends up at extent_writepage() and sees that the offset of the folio is beyond the i_size of inode Y, so it attempts to invalidate the folio by calling folio_invalidate(), which ends up at btrfs' folio invalidate callback - btrfs_invalidate_folio(). There it tries to lock the folio's range in inode Y's extent io tree, but it blocks since it's currently locked by task A - during a reflink we lock the inodes and the source and destination ranges after flushing all delalloc and waiting for ordered extent completion - after that we don't expect to have dirty folios in the ranges, the exception is if we have to copy an inline extent's data (because the destination offset is not zero); 4) Task A then attempts to start a transaction to update the inode item, and then it's blocked since the current transaction is in the TRANS_STATE_COMMIT_START state. Therefore task A has to wait for the current transaction to become unblocked (its state >= TRANS_STATE_UNBLOCKED). So task A is waiting for the transaction commit done by task B, and the later waiting on the extent lock of inode Y that is currently held by task A. Syzbot recently reported this with the following stack traces: INFO: task kworker/u8:7:1053 blocked for more than 143 seconds. ——6VaadinService.requestEnd() in Vaadin Framework 8 locks the session and then reads the v-uiId request parameter outside the block that releases the lock. A request carrying a non-numeric v-uiId makes Integer.parseInt throw while the session lock is held, so the lock is never released and the container thread returns to its pool still owning it. Every later request to that session then blocks forever in VaadinService.lockSession(), and repeating the request exhausts the thread pool and takes the application down. No authentication is required: a session cookie, which any client obtains with a single request, is enough. Vaadin 10 and later are not affected, because Flow releases the lock in a finally block and does not read that parameter there, and Vaadin Framework 7 is not affected either. Users of affected versions should apply the following mitigation or upgrade. Releases that have fixed this issue include: Product version Vaadin Framework 8.16.0 - 8.32.1 Mitigation Upgrade to 8.32.2 Vaadin Framework 7 and Vaadin 10 and later do not carry this behaviour and need no upgrade for this issue. Artifacts Maven coordinates / Vulnerable versions / Fixed version com.vaadin:vaadin-server / 8.16.0 - 8.32.1 / >=8.32.2 com.vaadin:vaadin-server-mpr-jakarta / 8.18.0 - 8.32.1 / >=8.32.23d

——2DBI versions before 1.656 for Perl hang on a later open of a DBD::DBM table because a failed open_data does not release the table's lock. open_data creates the table's lock file and takes an exclusive flock on it for a CREATE, before the checks that can croak: a dbm_mldbm value that is not a module name, a failing tie, or a missing data file. The croak unwinds before the table object is blessed, so nothing releases the lock, and the meta data holding the open descriptor stays cached on the database handle. The dbm_mldbm and dbm_type values come from the DSN or the connect attributes, so a caller that chooses the serializer or the storage backend can trigger the failure. The flock has no timeout, so a later open of that table (even through a separate database handle) blocks for as long as the handle holding the stale lock lives, in the same process or any other.5d

——0IBM i 7.3, 7.4, 7.5, and 7.6 is vulnerable to a denial of service to Digital Certificate Manager (DCM) for System TLS using applications attempting to create secure network connections. A bad actor could use this to prevent a service from starting or cause it to fallback to non-secure connections.2d

——4When a Gitea Actions run was inserted, older runs in the same workflow-level concurrency group were cancelled without checking whether the new run still needed approval. Because fork pull request runs are inserted under the base repository, a user who can open a pull request from a fork could cancel trusted in-progress runs that share a concurrency group with `cancel-in-progress` enabled, without approval and without running any code. On self-hosted runners this can interrupt deployments and leave partial state behind.11d

——4Nezha Dashboard from 1.8.0 before 2.3.13 contains an improper locking vulnerability where a non-deferred mutex unlock leaks on a nil-map panic path. Any authenticated non-admin member can issue four notification API calls to permanently deadlock the alerting subsystem, then exhaust memory with blocking requests.20d

——0In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: staging: fbtft: make dirty_lock IRQ-safe fbtft_mkdirty() can be reached from the fbcon rendering path while processing printk() in hardirq context. Meanwhile, dirty_lock is also taken by fbtft_deferred_io() in workqueue context with local interrupts enabled. Lockdep reports a possible IRQ lock inversion involving dirty_lock and console_owner. A hardirq can interrupt a CPU holding dirty_lock and enter the console rendering path, which can attempt to acquire dirty_lock again. The following lockdep report was observed on an RK3566 system with CONFIG_PROVE_LOCKING enabled: WARNING: possible irq lock inversion dependency detected swapper/2/0 just changed the state of lock: (console_owner){-...}-{0:0} but this lock took another, HARDIRQ-unsafe lock in the past: (&par->dirty_lock){+.+.}-{2:2} CPU0 CPU1 ---- ---- lock(&par->dirty_lock); local_irq_disable(); lock(console_owner); lock(&par->dirty_lock); <Interrupt> lock(console_owner); *** DEADLOCK *** Use spin_lock_irqsave() for fbtft_mkdirty() and spin_lock_irq() for fbtft_deferred_io(). They only access the dirty line range, so the IRQ-off regions remain short.2d
