ProjectSend contains an improper authentication vulnerability that allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker to enable unauthorized modification of the application's configuration via crafted HTTP requests to options.php. Successful exploitation allows attackers to create accounts, upload webshells, and embed malicious JavaScript.

Descrição técnica

ProjectSend versions prior to r1720 are affected by an improper authentication vulnerability. Remote, unauthenticated attackers can exploit this flaw by sending crafted HTTP requests to options.php, enabling unauthorized modification of the application's configuration. Successful exploitation allows attackers to create accounts, upload webshells, and embed malicious JavaScript.

Before 0.56.0, the core server protects HTTP POST requests to /rpc with bearer middleware but exposes Socket.IO rpc:request and chat:start handlers without equivalent transport or handler-level authentication. A local unauthenticated client can connect to the Socket.IO namespace and dispatch requests through the same protected controller path that rejects a missing bearer on /rpc.
