Descrição técnica

A missing release of resources in the illumos name service cache daemon (nscd) allows a local user to exhaust kernel memory. The nscd door server procedure, switcher() in usr/src/cmd/nscd/nscd_frontend.c, does not close file descriptors that are passed with a door call but not used by the request, and the main nscd door at /var/run/name_service_door accepts passed descriptors from any user in its zone. Because nscd also runs with an unlimited file descriptor limit, an unprivileged local user, including one in a non-global zone, can repeatedly pass a descriptor to its zone's nscd in a door_call() loop, causing the file descriptor table of nscd to grow without bound in kernel memory. This causes a denial of service of nscd and can render processes in all zones on the host unresponsive. The flaw has existed since 2006 (illumos-gate commit cb5caa98), and affects any illumos distribution prior to illumos-gate commit af810a72.

——2Improper release of expired privileged access checkouts in the PAM scheduled check-in task in Devolutions Server 2025.3.2.0 through 2026.2.22.0 allows an authenticated user with checkout rights on a PAM account to retain access to that account on the target system after the checkout expires via a backlog of 21 or more newer active checkouts that prevents the expired checkout from being checked in and its password from being rotated.3d

——4FreeRDP from 3.0.0 before 3.32.2 contains a file descriptor leak in parallel_process_irp_create that fails to close previous descriptors on repeated IRP_MJ_CREATE requests. A hostile RDP server with parallel-device redirection enabled can send repeated CREATE requests to exhaust the client descriptor table and crash the process.3d

——11In Eclipse ThreadX NetX Duo versions 6.0 through 6.5.2.202603a, the NetX Secure DTLS server allocates a session from its fixed session pool for the first datagram from any unrecognised address and port, before the cookie exchange, and never releases a session whose handshake stalls. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can exhaust the pool with one spoofed datagram per source and deny DTLS service to legitimate clients until the application resets the sessions.3d

——10P-Net before 1.0.3 does not release the RPC session allocated for an RPC request that names an unknown interface or object UUID, and does not start a timeout for it. Repeated requests with different activity UUIDs exhaust the available sessions. Once they are exhausted the device no longer answers new RPC requests, including Endpoint Mapper Lookup and Connect, until it is restarted. A remote unauthenticated attacker can use this to cause a denial of service.18h

——11P-Net before 1.0.3 does not release the Application Relationship (AR) and the RPC session when an RPC request is rejected because its data representation has incorrect endianness. The session and its AR remain allocated, so repeated requests exhaust the available sessions. Once they are exhausted the device no longer answers new RPC requests, including Connect, until it is restarted. A remote unauthenticated attacker can use this to cause a denial of service.18h
