Descrição técnica

Punk::Plugin::TOTP versions before 0.05 for Perl allow the second-factor attempt limit to be reset by replaying an earlier session cookie because the challenge route counts failures in the session. The POST handler on challenge_path keeps the failure count as tries inside the totp_pending record in the session, raising it on each rejected code and deleting the pending record once it reaches attempts, five by default. Punk::Session carries the session in a signed cookie unless the application declares a store, and keeps no server-side record, so an earlier value of the same session stays valid until the expiry stamped inside it. A client that saves the cookie before its failed attempts and presents it again gets the pending record back with its counter, and the limit never fires. The replayed record is accepted while its own expiry, pending_ttl seconds from the challenge and 300 by default, has not passed. Sessions declared with a store are not affected: the pending record and its counter then live server-side. The attempt limit does not bound guessing of the second factor, which is left to the per-address rate limit the plugin registers on the same path, 30 requests per 60 seconds.

CVE-2026-1244459.8 CRÍ
—
———OpenEMR from 7.0.1 before 8.4.0 contains a flaw in src/Common/Auth/OneTimeAuth.php that ignores the enforce_onetime_use and max_access_count flags, never revokes consumed service_auth tokens, and checks login_pin without rate limiting or strict comparison. Attackers holding a captured token can replay it or brute-force the PIN to open patient-portal sessions exposing PHI.3h

———Vikunja before 2.7.1 contains an improper restriction of excessive authentication attempts vulnerability that allows session holders to brute-force account passwords via unthrottled re-authentication endpoints. Attackers with a stolen session can guess the password via /user/settings/totp/disable without lockout, then disable TOTP without a code for persistent account takeover.15h

——14IBM API Connect 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 could allow a remote attacker to perform unauthenticated brute-force attacks to obtain valid credentials due to improper restriction of excessive authentication attempts.2d

——3Chartbrew is an open-source web application that can connect directly to databases and APIs and use the data to create charts. Prior to 5.2.3, public dashboard passwords were stored in plaintext, accepted through a URL query parameter, and checked without effective attempt throttling. The vulnerable surface is public password-protected dashboard storage and validation routes. An unauthenticated attacker targets a public password-protected dashboard and repeatedly submits candidate passwords or obtains password-bearing server or proxy logs. Unlimited online guesses enable brute force, while cleartext storage and URL transport expose the secret in application storage and server or proxy access logs. The target must be a public dashboard with password protection enabled. Even failed attempts reveal chart count and configuration without the password; a recovered password grants access to the protected dashboard and its chart data. This vulnerability is fixed in 5.2.3.2d

——4Hisense VIDAA Smart TV firmware V0000.01.00a.P0220 contains an authentication bypass vulnerability in its remote-control MQTT broker on TCP port 36669, which accepts publicly documented default credentials and an ineffective 4-digit pairing PIN with no rate limiting or lockout, allowing a brute force of the entire code space in about five seconds, while some actions require no pairing at all. A LAN-adjacent attacker can exploit this to inject key events, change volume, switch input sources, enumerate inputs, launch arbitrary installed applications, and monitor pairing activity, posing a significant risk in hotel deployments where untrusted LAN access is common.2d

——6FreeScout is a self-hosted help desk and shared mailbox. Prior to 1.8.225, the administrative tools.php maintenance endpoint is reachable without an appropriate authentication or access-control boundary. Response differences for attacker-controlled path values disclose whether arbitrary directories and files exist on the server. The same endpoint validates application-key and database-password candidates without rate limiting, per-session throttling, or a CAPTCHA, allowing unrestricted guessing attempts against application secrets. This issue is fixed in version 1.8.225.2d
