Technical description

Ubuntu Linux 6.8 contains SAUCE patches with a possible use of an uninitialized variable in AppArmor AF_INET/AF_INET6 socket mediation code. The bug can be triggered by an unprivileged local user and could result in incorrect fine-grained mediation of network sockets.

———FFmpeg 4.4 through 9.0.2 contains a use of uninitialized variable vulnerability in the CDXL decoder that leaks stack memory into decoded pixels via unfilled HAM palette entries. Attackers can craft a type-0 CDXL file whose HAM pixels select unfilled new_palette entries in cdxl_decode_ham8() or cdxl_decode_ham6(), exposing stack bytes and pointer fragments in the BGR24 output.10h

———FFmpeg 2.0 through 9.0.2 contains a use of uninitialized variable vulnerability in the Go2Meeting decoder that allows attackers to leak stack memory through out-of-range palette indices. Attackers can craft a G2M3/G2M4 stream with a short Kempf palette so kempf_restore_buf() copies uninitialized stack bytes, including pointers or stack guards, into decoded output.10h

——10The Web add-on's HTTP server dereferences and releases an uninitialized pointer when it detects a `Content-Length` underflow while processing a `PUT` request. The condition is reachable by an unauthenticated remote client with a single malformed request.12d

——2`_gx_binres_pixelmap_table_load()` in the GUIX binary resource (theme) loader indexes the pixelmap table with a value read verbatim from the resource file and never bounds it against the table size. A crafted theme drives a write of up to roughly 256 KB past the end of the table. The overflowed buffer is allocated by GUIX itself, through `_gx_system_memory_allocator`, rather than supplied by the caller, so the loader corrupts its own arena. The public API `gx_binres_theme_load()` takes no size parameter, so no amount of caller diligence prevents this. Reproduces in the shipped default configuration; `GX_BINARY_RESOURCE_SUPPORT` is enabled by default.12d

——8Pillow is a Python imaging library. From 9.1.0 until 13.0.0, Pillow can disclose uninitialized stack memory when Image.quantize() uses an empty palette. ImagingPaletteCacheUpdate() leaves a local cache array uninitialized when the palette has zero entries, and the conversion path emits those bytes as output pixel indices. An attacker who controls the palette image can obtain stack contents from a returned PNG or GIF. This can disclose addresses and stack-canary data without an out-of-bounds access, memory corruption, or process crash. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0.4d
