0In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dmaengine: mmp_pdma: Fix race condition in mmp_pdma_residue() Add proper locking in mmp_pdma_residue() to prevent use-after-free when accessing descriptor list and descriptor contents. The race occurs when multiple threads call tx_status() while the tasklet on another CPU is freeing completed descriptors: CPU 0 CPU 1 ----- ----- mmp_pdma_tx_status() mmp_pdma_residue() -> NO LOCK held list_for_each_entry(sw, ..) DMA interrupt dma_do_tasklet() -> spin_lock(&desc_lock) list_move(sw->node, ...) spin_unlock(&desc_lock) | dma_pool_free(sw) <- FREED! -> access sw->desc <- UAF! This issue can be reproduced when running dmatest on the same channel with multiple threads (threads_per_chan > 1). Fix by protecting the chain_running list iteration and descriptor access with the chan->desc_lock spinlock.7d

0In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: core: Wake up the error handler when final completions race against each other The fragile ordering between marking commands completed or failed so that the error handler only wakes when the last running command completes or times out has race conditions. These race conditions can cause the SCSI layer to fail to wake the error handler, leaving I/O through the SCSI host stuck as the error state cannot advance. First, there is an memory ordering issue within scsi_dec_host_busy(). The write which clears SCMD_STATE_INFLIGHT may be reordered with reads counting in scsi_host_busy(). While the local CPU will see its own write, reordering can allow other CPUs in scsi_dec_host_busy() or scsi_eh_inc_host_failed() to see a raised busy count, causing no CPU to see a host busy equal to the host_failed count. This race condition can be prevented with a memory barrier on the error path to force the write to be visible before counting host busy commands. Second, there is a general ordering issue with scsi_eh_inc_host_failed(). By counting busy commands before incrementing host_failed, it can race with a final command in scsi_dec_host_busy(), such that scsi_dec_host_busy() does not see host_failed incremented but scsi_eh_inc_host_failed() counts busy commands before SCMD_STATE_INFLIGHT is cleared by scsi_dec_host_busy(), resulting in neither waking the error handler task. This needs the call to scsi_host_busy() to be moved after host_failed is incremented to close the race condition.7d

0In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu: fix AMDGPU_INFO_READ_MMR_REG There were multiple issues in that code. First of all the order between the reset semaphore and the mm_lock was wrong (e.g. copy_to_user) was called while holding the lock. Then we allocated memory while holding the reset semaphore which is also a pretty big bug and can deadlock. Then we used down_read_trylock() instead of waiting for the reset to finish. The components can be reset only together. That means that hid_pre_reset() and hid_post_reset() are in the block IO error handling. Hence no memory allocation used in them may do block IO because the IO can deadlock on the mutex held while resetting a device and calling the interface drivers. Use GFP_NOIO for all allocations in them.7d

CVE-2025-711045.5 MED

0In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: x86: Fix VM hard lockup after prolonged inactivity with periodic HV timer When advancing the target expiration for the guest's APIC timer in periodic mode, set the expiration to "now" if the target expiration is in the past (similar to what is done in update_target_expiration()). Blindly adding the period to the previous target expiration can result in KVM generating a practically unbounded number of hrtimer IRQs due to programming an expired timer over and over. In extreme scenarios, e.g. if userspace pauses/suspends a VM for an extended duration, this can even cause hard lockups in the host. Currently, the bug only affects Intel CPUs when using the hypervisor timer (HV timer), a.k.a. the VMX preemption timer. Unlike the software timer, a.k.a. hrtimer, which KVM keeps running even on exits to userspace, the HV timer only runs while the guest is active. As a result, if the vCPU does not run for an extended duration, there will be a huge gap between the target expiration and the current time the vCPU resumes running. Because the target expiration is incremented by only one period on each timer expiration, this leads to a series of timer expirations occurring rapidly after the vCPU/VM resumes. More critically, when the vCPU first triggers a periodic HV timer expiration after resuming, advancing the expiration by only one period will result in a target expiration in the past. As a result, the delta may be calculated as a negative value. When the delta is converted into an absolute value (tscdeadline is an unsigned u64), the resulting value can overflow what the HV timer is capable of programming. I.e. the large value will exceed the VMX Preemption Timer's maximum bit width of cpu_preemption_timer_multi + 32, and thus cause KVM to switch from the HV timer to the software timer (hrtimers). After switching to the software timer, periodic timer expiration callbacks may be executed consecutively within a single clock interrupt handler, because hrtimers honors KVM's request for an expiration in the past and immediately re-invokes KVM's callback after reprogramming. And because the interrupt handler runs with IRQs disabled, restarting KVM's hrtimer over and over until the target expiration is advanced to "now" can result in a hard lockup. E.g. the following hard lockup was triggered in the host when running a Windows VM (only relevant because it used the APIC timer in periodic mode) after resuming the VM from a long suspend (in the host). NMI watchdog: Watchdog detected hard LOCKUP on cpu 45 ... RIP: 0010:advance_periodic_target_expiration+0x4d/0x80 [kvm] ... Since the periodic timer does not require frequent APIC timer register programming, the guest may continue to use the software timer in ---truncated---7d

Starting in version 3.9.0 and prior to version 4.11.0, the RSA-OAEP decryption implementation in the NXP CAAM crypto driver uses non-constant-time `memcmp()` for label hash verification and has multiple distinguishable error paths. This creates a Manger-style padding oracle that allows an attacker to recover RSA-OAEP plaintext with approximately 1000-2000 adaptive chosen ciphertext queries. Version 4.11.0 contains a patch. As a workaround, disable the NXP CAAM RSA driver with `CFG_CRYPTO_DRV_RSA=n`.14d

0In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/huge_memory: fix folio isn't locked in softleaf_to_folio() On arm64 server, we found folio that get from migration entry isn't locked in softleaf_to_folio(). This issue triggers when mTHP splitting and zap_nonpresent_ptes() races, and the root cause is lack of memory barrier in softleaf_to_folio(). The race is as follows: CPU0 CPU1 deferred_split_scan() zap_nonpresent_ptes() lock folio split_folio() unmap_folio() change ptes to migration entries __split_folio_to_order() softleaf_to_folio() set flags(including PG_locked) for tail pages folio = pfn_folio(softleaf_to_pfn(entry)) smp_wmb() VM_WARN_ON_ONCE(!folio_test_locked(folio)) prep_compound_page() for tail pages In __split_folio_to_order(), smp_wmb() guarantees page flags of tail pages are visible before the tail page becomes non-compound. smp_wmb() should be paired with smp_rmb() in softleaf_to_folio(), which is missed. As a result, if zap_nonpresent_ptes() accesses migration entry that stores tail pfn, softleaf_to_folio() may see the updated compound_head of tail page before page->flags. This issue will trigger VM_WARN_ON_ONCE() in pfn_swap_entry_folio() because of the race between folio split and zap_nonpresent_ptes() leading to a folio incorrectly undergoing modification without a folio lock being held. This is a BUG_ON() before commit 93976a20345b ("mm: eliminate further swapops predicates"), which in merged in v6.19-rc1. To fix it, add missing smp_rmb() if the softleaf entry is migration entry in softleaf_to_folio() and softleaf_to_page(). [tujinjiang@huawei.com: update function name and comments]7d

0In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: soc: fsl: qbman: fix race condition in qman_destroy_fq When QMAN_FQ_FLAG_DYNAMIC_FQID is set, there's a race condition between fq_table[fq->idx] state and freeing/allocating from the pool and WARN_ON(fq_table[fq->idx]) in qman_create_fq() gets triggered. Indeed, we can have: Thread A Thread B qman_destroy_fq() qman_create_fq() qman_release_fqid() qman_shutdown_fq() gen_pool_free() -- At this point, the fqid is available again -- qman_alloc_fqid() -- so, we can get the just-freed fqid in thread B -- fq->fqid = fqid; fq->idx = fqid * 2; WARN_ON(fq_table[fq->idx]); fq_table[fq->idx] = fq; fq_table[fq->idx] = NULL; And adding some logs between qman_release_fqid() and fq_table[fq->idx] = NULL makes the WARN_ON() trigger a lot more. To prevent that, ensure that fq_table[fq->idx] is set to NULL before gen_pool_free() is called by using smp_wmb().7d

Before the lock is taken, psp_dev_unregister() can run to completion: take psd->lock, clear out state, unlock, drop the registration reference. The expectation is that the lock prevents device unregistration, but much like with netdevs special care has to be taken when "upgrading" a reference to a locked device. Add the missing check if device is still alive. psp_dev_is_registered() exists already but had no callers, which makes me wonder if I either forgot to add this or lost the check during refactoring...7d

0In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: virt: sev-guest: Do not use host-controlled page order in cleanup path When issuing an extended guest request (SVM_VMGEXIT_EXT_GUEST_REQUEST), get_ext_report() allocates a buffer to retrieve a certificate blob from the host, keeping track of its size in report_req->certs_len. However, the host may return SNP_GUEST_VMM_ERR_INVALID_LEN, indicating an invalid buffer size, as well as the expected length of such buffer. get_ext_report() subsequently updates report_req->certs_len with the host-controlled value, and cleans up the buffer by computing a page order from such value. This is incorrect, as the host-provided length may not match the page order of the original allocation, potentially resulting in corruption in the page allocator. Fix this by using alloc_pages_exact() instead, and reusing @npages to compute the size passed to free_pages_exact(). For consistency, also use @npages to compute the size when allocating the pages, even though this last change has no functional effect.7d

0In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: PM: runtime: Fix a race condition related to device removal The following code in pm_runtime_work() may dereference the dev->parent pointer after the parent device has been freed: /* Maybe the parent is now able to suspend. */ if (parent && !parent->power.ignore_children) { spin_unlock(&dev->power.lock); spin_lock(&parent->power.lock); rpm_idle(parent, RPM_ASYNC); spin_unlock(&parent->power.lock); spin_lock(&dev->power.lock); } Fix this by inserting a flush_work() call in pm_runtime_remove(). Without this patch blktest block/001 triggers the following complaint sporadically: BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in lock_acquire+0x70/0x160 Read of size 1 at addr ffff88812bef7198 by task kworker/u553:1/3081 Workqueue: pm pm_runtime_work Call Trace: <TASK> dump_stack_lvl+0x61/0x80 print_address_description.constprop.0+0x8b/0x310 print_report+0xfd/0x1d7 kasan_report+0xd8/0x1d0 __kasan_check_byte+0x42/0x60 lock_acquire.part.0+0x38/0x230 lock_acquire+0x70/0x160 _raw_spin_lock+0x36/0x50 rpm_suspend+0xc6a/0xfe0 rpm_idle+0x578/0x770 pm_runtime_work+0xee/0x120 process_one_work+0xde3/0x1410 worker_thread+0x5eb/0xfe0 kthread+0x37b/0x480 ret_from_fork+0x6cb/0x920 ret_from_fork_asm+0x11/0x20 </TASK> Allocated by task 4314: kasan_save_stack+0x2a/0x50 kasan_save_track+0x18/0x40 kasan_save_alloc_info+0x3d/0x50 __kasan_kmalloc+0xa0/0xb0 __kmalloc_noprof+0x311/0x990 scsi_alloc_target+0x122/0xb60 [scsi_mod] __scsi_scan_target+0x101/0x460 [scsi_mod] scsi_scan_channel+0x179/0x1c0 [scsi_mod] scsi_scan_host_selected+0x259/0x2d0 [scsi_mod] store_scan+0x2d2/0x390 [scsi_mod] dev_attr_store+0x43/0x80 sysfs_kf_write+0xde/0x140 kernfs_fop_write_iter+0x3ef/0x670 vfs_write+0x506/0x1470 ksys_write+0xfd/0x230 __x64_sys_write+0x76/0xc0 x64_sys_call+0x213/0x1810 do_syscall_64+0xee/0xfc0 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x4b/0x53 Freed by task 4314: kasan_save_stack+0x2a/0x50 kasan_save_track+0x18/0x40 kasan_save_free_info+0x3f/0x50 __kasan_slab_free+0x67/0x80 kfree+0x225/0x6c0 scsi_target_dev_release+0x3d/0x60 [scsi_mod] device_release+0xa3/0x220 kobject_cleanup+0x105/0x3a0 kobject_put+0x72/0xd0 put_device+0x17/0x20 scsi_device_dev_release+0xacf/0x12c0 [scsi_mod] device_release+0xa3/0x220 kobject_cleanup+0x105/0x3a0 kobject_put+0x72/0xd0 put_device+0x17/0x20 scsi_device_put+0x7f/0xc0 [scsi_mod] sdev_store_delete+0xa5/0x120 [scsi_mod] dev_attr_store+0x43/0x80 sysfs_kf_write+0xde/0x140 kernfs_fop_write_iter+0x3ef/0x670 vfs_write+0x506/0x1470 ksys_write+0xfd/0x230 __x64_sys_write+0x76/0xc0 x64_sys_call+0x213/0x18107d
